Parents are the first role models to children
Practicing what we speak - a parents responsibility
It was a cute family. A family of four. Father, mother, son aged 8 & daughter aged 5. The parents knew the importance of giving their children good education as well as teaching them about morals and ethics.
On a Sunday the Father was teaching about morals and values to his son:
1) Be honest. Speak the truth
2) Work hard
3) Good conduct is very important at all times
4) Practice giving
5) Help people whenever possible
6) Don't get angry
and so on....
However, the true test of these values came on Monday morning when the father felt lethargic and didn't want to go to the office. When his boss called on the landline phone the son took the phone. It was from his father's boss. The father told his son in hushed whisper to lie and tell his boss that he was sick. The son did what he told.
The son was now faced with a dilemma: follow his father's teachings or emulate his actions.
Unfortunately, the son chose to emulate his father's behavior, highlighting a crucial aspect of learning: children learn more from what they see than what they hear. Parents, as the first role models, have a profound impact on their children's development. The video of their actions speaks louder than the audio of their words.
This incident serves as a reminder that integrity and authenticity are essential in parenting. Children look up to their parents and mimic their behavior, so it's crucial for parents to practice what they preach. By doing so, they can instill valuable life lessons and shape their children's character in a positive way.
The Importance of Leading by Example:
As parents, we must recognize the significance of our actions and their impact on our children's development. By being mindful of our behavior and living the values we teach, we can create a positive and lasting influence on their lives.
A Call to Action
Let's strive to be role models who practice what we preach, demonstrating integrity, kindness, and compassion in our daily lives. By doing so, we can shape a brighter future for our children and inspire them to become responsible, empathetic, and virtuous individuals.
