People Change When They Want To Change

You can change yourself but not others unless they want to...

Leadership Wisdom

A wise sage stood before a gathering of seekers, sharing profound insights on the nature of change.

"Remember, you cannot change people," the sage said, his voice filled with conviction.

"You may advise, suggest, order, or force people, but you can't make them change. Change is possible only if they decide to. It's a journey that each individual must undertake for themselves."

A seeker in the audience asked, "So, what's the final method by which you can change another person?"

The sage's response was straightforward. "Unless he changes himself, else the change would be temporary. You can't force lasting change on someone who isn't ready."

The sage paused, allowing the seekers to absorb his words.

"So, what should you do until that person changes himself, the sage asked?"

The audience fell silent.

"You should allow that person to believe that change is necessary," the sage said.

"But until then, what will you do, the sage further asked?"

The audience didn't respond.

The sage told, "Until then, you can just change yourself, since that's the only thing possible."

The seekers nodded, beginning to understand the sage's wisdom. The truth was simple yet profound: the only person you can truly change is yourself.

By focusing on your own growth and transformation, you can find peace and freedom, even if others around you remain unchanged.

The sage's words resonated deeply with the audience, reminding them that true change begins within.

As they departed, they carried with them a newfound understanding of the power of self-transformation and the limits of influencing others.

Lessons:

1) People change only when they want to change.

2) The only thing we have control over is on ourselves. And, that's the eternal truth.
